In the fourth week of the National Bible Bee Game Show Juniors Level, four more young people faced off, answering trivia questions and reciting Scripture, in hopes of advancing to the semifinals. And it all began with a question about the silver that the Philistines offered Delilah to betray Samson.
In the first round of the Junior level of the National Bible Bee Game Show, four young people challenged themselves and each other with the 183 Bible passages and 700 verses they had memorized. In front of a panel including former pro athlete and entrepreneur Jason Benham, former Bible Bee Game Show winner Hannah Leary, and Living Waters Ministries president Emeal (“E.Z.”) Zwayne, they worked to show what they had learned about the Bible in this week's episode.
Initially, each of the contestants could earn points for buzzing in during Bible Knowledge Buzzer Round, choosing the correct multiple choice answer to questions before tackling memorization and trivia, as well as recitation of longer passages. Urdaneta's spot never seemed to be in doubt in the next round, but Minica and Shann competed down to the wire for the second advancement. Minica prevailed after Shann incorrectly answered in the final round and dropped out of contention.
This week, the contestants were:
Brianna Minica of San Antonio, TX, likes to decorate cakes but her heroes are Clara Barton and Florence Nightingale, who focused on others and not themselves. Ruth is her Biblical inspiration - as sacrifice is an important concept for Minica. Jeremiah 29:11-14 is her favorite Bible passage.
Ann Shann of Seattle, WA, enjoys reading, mostly fiction. Her favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 5:21. She sees her story as just beginning and appreciates the way that the Bible Bee has challenged her faith to grow. Her favorite lighthearted moment occurred in a game of "telephone" during youth group where she once had to "propose" to the guy sitting next to her when the message was twisted.
Zachary Urdaneta of Great Mills, MD, admires Jesus because was absolutely perfect. He enjoys eating vegatables and the sport of baseball - he has over one thousand baseball cards. He once lived in Hawaii for four years. His favorite verses are Isaiah 6:1-5 and Revelation 4:8.
Rachel Miller of Fairbanks, AL, loves to draw, and she knows how to operate a chainsaw! Her favorite passage is Romans 8:31-39, and finds inspiration in the lives of Fanny Crosby and George Washington. She has been to all of the states except Hawaii - with Washington, D.C., serving as her favorite place to visit.
