Christian Cinema and iDisciple Merge

Dear Friends,

It gives me great pleasure to announce that, the market leader in Transactional Video on Demand (TVOD) for Christian entertainment, has merged with iDisciple in Alpharetta, Georgia to form a new media and resource company which will now be the Christian market’s most diverse and extensive content library.

As you may know, I co-founded Christian Cinema in 1999, and today it encompasses the largest library of Christian film and episodic content in the TVOD market. has a catalog of over 3,000 movies licensed for the US market. Christian Cinema also has extensive Over the Top (OTT) capabilities supporting Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire, and Chromecast, along with native iOS and Android apps.

The synergy between our two organizations was clear when we began conversations regarding a merger. With the addition of Christian Cinema, this new media company will immediately add a first-class content category along with innovative OTT capabilities. The served community represents over 5 million Christian consumers rooted in the entertainment market from Family Christian Stores, and we are excited to present them the Christian Cinema offering. I will be serving as Chief Strategy Officer alongside CEO David K. Henriksen and will be bringing with me our talented keys from Christian Cinema: Jared Geesey as General Manager, Debbie Korte as Content Licensing Manager.

I am both thankful and excited to share this momentous milestone in strategically expanding the audience for Christian Cinema, and look forward to sharing more as we introduce new offerings to the market through this new family of brands.

I would also like to mention that with Christian Cinema now part of a non-profit organization, one of the aspects we are most excited about is that proceeds from the group will be put towards something my family has been passionate about—orphan care and efforts in building stronger families. We look forward to the days ahead!

Thank you for your friendship and support,

Bobby Downes

P.S. Be sure to see Paul, Apostle of Christ Movie starring Jim Caviezel when it comes to theaters March 23. This film was produced by Christian Cinema’s new sister company Giving Films.
