Because of Gracia Takes Best Picture at ICVM Awards

The teen drama Because of Gracia took the top prize at the International Christian Visual Media Association’s annual Crown Awards, which recognize excellence in production and content of films and videos that are created to reflect Christian values in a secular world. In addition to the title of Best Picture, Because of Gracia also received cash prizes and advertising packages designed to promote the film which releases in theaters nationwide on September 15th. Accepting the award on behalf of the film were executive producers Rodney and Angel Hatfield.

Because of Gracia follows the intertwining lives of two couples who explore dating and friendship along dissimilar lines, leading to courage and transformation for one teen and personal crisis for the other. The film touches on the topic of abortion, teen pregnancy and the evolution debate which takes place in a public school.

“We are delighted to know that the Christian community is responding to enthusiastically to our film,” noted the film’s director, Tom Simes. “We have been honored to be embraced by so many communities and this is a great honor.”

The victory comes off the heels of another Best Picture win for Because of Gracia at the Park City International Film Festival. It is the hopes of the filmmakers that the positive critical and audience reception will bring in viewers for wide release this fall.

Because of Gracia opens nationwide on September 15th.
