This movie captures the warmth and compassion of a man whose soul was on fire for the Lord.
Robert Sheffey was an American circuit-riding preacher of the nineteenth century. The film tells the true story of this unusual servant of God, who as a rowdy young man followed his friends to a revival meeting and there found the Lord. A man of prayer, tireless service, and great compassion, "Brother Sheffey" rides through the Appalachian Mountains spreading the gospel. Although he suffers the loss of his two greatest treasures in one day, Sheffey still finds forgiveness in his heart for the person who caused his sorrow. It captures the warmth and compassion of a man whose soul was on fire for the Lord.

Sheffey, another exciting motion picture from Unusual Films (a unit of Bob Jones University), will have you cheering for the values held by those of us who hold true to Biblically based values. This is the story of Robert Sheffey, a circuit-riding preacher, who impacted lives throughout Virginia and the surrounding area. He is not identified as a Methodist in the film, but was aligned with the Methodist church. One of my forbearers, three generations ago, was also a Methodist circuit-riding preacher. Enjoy!

very good, starts a little slow but then gets interesting. Gives the plan of salvation clearly, shows how we as Christian,s are suppose to be. The end is actually a warning and it is right on

We thoroughly enjoyed this film. It is set in the early to mid-19th century. Robert Sheffey is a born-again Christian from a well to-do family, who, as a young man, leaves the luxury to follow his calling. The movie was produced by Bob Jones Univ., but looks professional in every respect. The story follows Sheffey's ministry from its beginning, through many trial and challenges, to the end of his life. As a circuit rider in rural Virginia and surrounding areas, he becomes a legendary, but very humble figure. This is a well-produced drama, not a documentary. Well suited for the entire family.
