Florence Nightingale - DVD –
Dinah S, 09/08/2015Loved this movie from start to finish. Well done! I enjoyed learning about Ms. Nightingale and the early history of nursing. This movie has graphic depictions of wounds, you probably will not want to eat while watching this movie. I do not see small or young children viewing this movie. It does have romance, a glimpse into the lifestyle in England, the lower system of society and the in-humaneness of how soldiers are treated. That was the most shocking part to me. No doubt, in this movie at least, that Ms. Nightingale was blessed with the ability to have the courage to stand up to more intimidating types and appeal to most people in a way that brought changes and made a true difference in how patients and soldiers are treated. I found this movie to be both entertaining and educational. Enjoy!

Florence Nightingale - DVD –
Richard and Linda D, 03/25/2012Florence Nightingale, a remarkable film, starring Jaclyn Smith, ably supported by a wonderful cast (Claire Bloom as her mother, Jeremy Brett as her father, and Timothy Dalton as a suitor (along with many other wonderful actors and actresses), will stay with you long after the ending credits. Nursing, as we know it today, began with Florence’s service to wounded soldiers during the tragic Crimean war (1854-55). During this time period, women were not allowed to be nurses in the field hospitals of the British army, where conditions were horrid. One of the highlights of most well done films is the extras packed onto the DVD. Unfortunately, since this film is from 1985, no such extras were (probably) available. You will truly love hearing about Florence’s hearing from God. Enjoy!
