In the midst of horrific tragedy, a hero emerges to save lives
As his country descends into madness, five-star hotel manager Paul Rusesabagina (Don Cheadle) sets out to save his family. But when he sees that the world will not intervene in the massacre of minority Tutsis, he finds the courage to open his hotel to over 1,200 refugees. Now, with a rabid militia at the gates, he has only his wits and words to help keep them alive another hour...another day...
Don Cheadle gives "the performance of a lifetime" (Los Angeles Times) in this "remarkable" (Newsweek) and "profoundly affecting" (Houston Chronicle) true story of one man's brave stance against savagery during the 1994 Rwandan conflict. Costarring Sophie Okonedo and Nick Nolte, Hotel Rwanda is "the kind of film that can change the world" (Joel Siegel, "Good Morning America").

Very well done. Also watched it with commentary and that was as good if not better since Paul himself did most of it. Events were definitely based on thee facts. Very sad also and the truth about our own lack of intervention is discussed.

Oh, What can I say about this DVD? The violence was hard for me to take. In fact, I turned away from watching the violent scenes. However, It was necessary to show the turbulence of those awful days as we all need a reality check from time to time, and to be made aware of the suffering that goes on in the world we live in. It's was absolutely sickening that the people in this genocide weren't given the help they needed from nations who were able and had the monetary means to have helped them. If countries won't help, the responsibility falls on individuals to take the reins. We are truly our brother's keeper.

Excellent movie. Very Intense. Truly portrays the horrific tragedy that happened over there in 1994

It's always so shocking when we see and think about how some people's live's are so difficult in other areas outside our own little comfortable lives.

One of my favorite movies of all time, this film makes a heart-wrenching appeal to us as "rich Americans" to care about the plight of real humans in countries around the world. It is an excellent film, but it should be noted that it includes language and violence.
