"Little Boy" Taking Over Theaters Nationwide

By Jacob Sahms

This Thursday, Little Boy will literally “take over” entire cinemas in twenty cities, a day before the film opens nationwide on April 24. Pulling off a feat normally reserved for blockbusters, the Open Road independent film has every screen and every seat already purchased by sponsors buying tens of thousands of tickets to benefit schools, youth organizations, military families, and churches.

Little Boy tells the heartwarming story of a little boy who is willing to do whatever it takes to bring his dad home from World War II alive. The story reveals the indescribable love a little boy has for his father and the love a father has for his son. Directed by Alejandro Monteverde, and produced by Eduardo Verastegui, Leo Severino, Mark Burnett, and Roma Downey, the film stars David Henrie, Michael Rappaport, Emily Watson, Tom Wilkinson, and newcomer Jakob Salvati.

Elliott Slutzky, EVP of Distribution at Open Road Films says, “We’re excited to see this level of excitement around the movie. We’ve confirmed many buyouts, takeovers and pre-sales for Little Boy in theaters across the country. People are really passionate about this movie.”

Organizations like American Youth Soccer League, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and others are joining those other groups to facilitate Theater Takeovers in Los Angeles, San Diego, Boston, Miami, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Colorado Springs and Connecticut.

The “Acts of Kindness” theme from the movie has drawn in sponsors like NY Times bestselling author Ken Blanchard, who is sponsoring 2,845 tickets for military families at Camp Pendleton, CA; Kansas City Royals veteran Mike Sweeney, who is sponsoring 1,000 tickets to Navy families through the military YMCA; and Fundacion en Luz, which is sponsoring 2,000 tickets for teenage orphans from Mexico who have arrived in the United States. The Templeton Foundation has partnered with UCLA’s Action Lab to produce an application to encourage those Acts of Kindness.

What customers say about
" Recently stumbled upon this site and WOW! I am sharing the information with everyone I know and my husband and I are considering joining the monthly movie club. I am sick of going to the video rental places and not finding anything that interests me or is appropriate for the family to watch. Thanks." - Mary Pietan
