What do Media Leaders Think of "Patterns of Evidence? All-Star Q&A Panel Scheduled

by Melinda Ledman

If the dramatically altered facts in Exodus: Gods and Kings bothered you, now there’s an answer. Better yet, this answer has been in the making for twelve years thanks to Tim Mahoney, the filmmaker behind Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus. His film, which opens nationwide for a one-night event on January 19, has also just announced an all-star Q&A panel hosted by Fox News Channel’s Gretchen Carlson.

Like the director of Exodus, Tim Mahoney also had questions about the actual events of the Exodus, questions which culminated in the creation of this film.  He explains, “What started out as a crisis of my own faith led me on an incredible 12 year journey of discovery.  I feel the film presents compelling, newly recognized patterns of evidence for the biblical exodus.  We interview top historians and archeologists in the field on all sides of the issue and allow the viewer to draw their own conclusions.”

Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus chronicles an in-depth archaeological investigation in Egypt with a team of experts who attempt to corroborate the biblical text. The film explores one fundamental question:  Is there any evidence that the Exodus story actually happened? The documentary reveals new or rarely seen evidence regarding the Israelites’ descent into slavery, their Exodus from Egypt and their ultimate conquest of the Promise Land.  Although many scholars and archaeologists deny the validity of the Exodus story for lack of proof, Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus builds a case that sheds new light on the story.

Now, media leaders who are also intrigued by the subject are coming together to discuss this insightful film.  The Q&A panel will be moderated by Fox News Channel’s Gretchen Carlson (host of “The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson”) and will include Anne Graham Lotz (author and founder of AnGeL Ministries), Eric Metaxas (best-selling author and TV host), Father Jonathan Morris (religious media commentator serving the New York Archdiocese) as well as Dennis Prager (speaker and radio show host).

Mahoney states, “We are thrilled that such a distinguished and respected group has been assembled for the post-screening Q&A.  I feel anyone with a passion for history, culture or religion will not only enjoy Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus, but the discussion to follow as well.”

The question of the Bible’s validity, particularly with regard to its historical accuracy, affects so many areas of the Christian (and secular) life. Executive Producer David Wessner states, “This story is the origin story for not only Judaism and Christianity, but also for the moral, ethical and judicial dimensions of western civilization. Whether it happened or not has immense implications for both personal and civil reasons. This is why we are so passionate about this film.” Curious viewers and skeptics, as well as followers of Christ, will certainly want to tune in.

Tickets for Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus are available at participating theater box offices and online at  The event will be presented in 650 movie theaters around the country through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network on Monday, January 19. For a complete list of theater locations, visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).
