Pathlight Entertainment announced today that filming begins in March for their new movie Beyond the Farthest Star. Producer Benjamin Dane and writer/director Andrew Librizzi were winners at last year's 168 Hour Film Project with their faith-based film Still Born.
Beyond the Farthest Star is the story of Adam Wells, a minister driven by the prospect of achieving greatness as the next nationally syndicatd TV evangelist. But at a life crossroads, he lays down his opportunity at celebrity, even his own life, for his wife and troubled daughter.
D.B. Sweeney (Miracle at St. Anna, Eight Men Out, The Cutting Edge) stars with Renee O'Connor (Xena) co-starring as his wife.
"D.B. (who most recently completed a recurring role in 24 and the feature Fencewalker) brings an authenticity and deep soulfulness to every performance, which are qualities essential in the portrayal of Adam Wells, an austere preacher who discovers for the first time the meaning of the message he's been preaching all his life," says writer/director Andrew Librizzi.
Beyond the Farthest Star has already received critical for its screenplay with multi-layered characters and an inspirational story, and is set for a Christmas 2010 release.
