Even if Christmas has past, this movie is well worth watching for the message it has. Great for all the family.

I watched this movie for the first time last year, and I have to be honest, I didn't want to. However, I was very VERY surprised...it was a wooonderful, family, heart-felt movie. I've recommended this movie to several friends and family memebers and they too have enjoyed it. It was a good message and worth watching again and again.

I thought the movie was very well done and that it was a great movie. I actually didn't get to watch it until after Christmas but I think any time of year would be good to watch it. The only problem I had with it was that the story moved kind of slow but it was an excellent movie about friendship and family.

This was a really great movie! very entertaining and great acting. It has alot of family values and great for around the christmas time or really anytime you want a value filled yet entertaining movie. It's great for teaching the value of helping your neighbor especially when they are a different color than you and the main actor and dad did this so well and really encouraged success in his "neighbor". Great theme and film to watch!

Nice family movie. Easy to watch. Like others have said, not heavy on the Christmas theme so good to watch at any time of year.

All-in-all, a wonderful film, showing the downside of racial prejudice in a small town. While all the actors/actresses were quite capable, special mention needs to be made of Emily Tennant (Cissy in the early portion of the film and Sarah toward the end). Since the mother passed away giving birth to one of the children, Cissy effectively became the mother of the family, protecting her family from any and all that would harm/disrupt its integrity. Since we are not bound by the dictates of prejudice, we were almost ready to end this film before the first act finished - if we had, we would have missed the best portion of the film, which occured during act two. Enjoy!

Heartfelt and warm movie. One you can watch over and over again. Great example of a Godly man leading his home. Terrific acting and easy to watch. Highly recommended for those raised by prejudice parents in the 60's!!
