First Love - Disc 2
The late 60's and early '70's were a time of tremendous upheaval in American culture as the hippie generation abandoned the values of their parents, turned to drugs and away from materialism, and went on a search for love and peace. For these young people, "the establishment" which included the church, seemed irrelevant. At times it felt like the very fabric of our nation might tear apart.
It was out of this tumultuous era that young, musical voices began to surface. These newly converted musicians began singing about the new hope they had found through Jesus Christ.
First Love examines the life and music of the people who birthed the sounds of a revolution that swept American culture. It became know as the Jesus Movement.
For three historic days, these artists gathered for the first time in a mountain retreat in Southern California and First Love Volumes I & II captures almost 4 hours of each of their incredible live performances and reveals a rare look a the heart and motives of each artist as they describe in intimate detail the drama of their personal transformation.

what an AWESOME video. I had the honor to have sung with some featured on this video, Barry McGuire, 2nd Chapter of Acts, Jamie Owens (Collins), when we performed at the Forum back in 1973 a musical "Come Together", Directed by Jimmy and Carol Owens (Jamie's parents) and featuring Pat Boone and his family. To watch this video brought back such wonderful memories, like when I met Matthew Ward (he had more hair at the time) :) but we hit it off because we have the same name, and later I ran into Barry in VA at FishNet in Front Royal and he told me the story of when he first shaved his beard and his family ALL pulled chairs around in the bathroom because none of them (including his wife) had EVER seen him without his beard. People just do NOT write songs like they did today. ALL the Christian music sounds the same, the musice Chuck Gerard, Barry, Annie, Matthew, Randy, Keith, Honeytree and so on were as orginial, personal and fresh as their testimony I would HIGHLY recommend this video to ANYONE who remembers this time as well as those in music today. To make Gospel music today as personal and different today as it was then.
God Bless you.

I loved what I saw on TBN, but I have to say that Ted Sandquist was an obvious omission from the featured artists. Thousands upon thousands of young Christians in the early 70's grew into maturity on his rich music and anointed lyrics. Still a prolific psalmist, Ted is one of the most overlooked and underappreciated gifts to the Body of Christ.
