In His Steps, based upon 1 Peter 2:21, is the inspiration for What Would Jesus Do? (WWJD) and is based upon the 1897 novel by Charles M. Sheldon, titled “In His Steps.” This Ken Anderson written and directed film focuses on Russ Reed (playing Pastor Maxwell), Harry Elders (playing Ed Norman), and Cheryl Lee Morrison (playing Rachel Paige). Pastor’s challenge, to his congregation, is to see what would happen if people decided to live like Jesus wanted them to. Thus, we follow the trail of several people who accepted the challenge, with the focus on Ed and Rachel, and their impact upon others. This wonderful film will find you wanting to obtain a copy of the source material, which is still available. Enjoy!

The book was life-changing, and I couldn't wait to see the movie. However, it was a great disappointment. Started out good, with the stranger coming into church and shaking things up, but then it never got much beyond the pastor preaching to his congregation about living "in His steps." It never came close to telling any of the life-changing stories that were portrayed in the book; never touched on the revivals or the town that was changed. If you read the book, you'll be sorely disappointed. In case you don't know, this was the book that inspired the "What Would Jesus Do" movement.

Very good movie! It really inspired you to check the condition of your own Christian faith. Are we really living like Jesus did?

This is an old movie but a good story. It was uplifting and inspiring, but ended rather suddenly. If you have read the book you will notice that the story is just getting good when the movie ends. I'm glad we watched it, I only wish it was longer.
