This movie is not for little kids. It deals with adult issues with wordly sinful and violent people. But for older teens and adults this movie has many great lessons. The overbearing parent chases a sheltered your lady into the world alone. She falls for the first smooth talking slimeball and sin becomes a part of her life as it spirals downhill. It does have a prodigal son ending. This movie is a good lesson on forgiveness when our loved ones mess up.

I watched it with my 12 & 13 years old granddaughters and we had a wonderful discussion afterwards. They had lots of questions and comments. It was a great session that lasted well over an hour. Great movie for teens and tweens girls.

I give it a 1 or zero star. I don't consider this a christian movie. It was a bunch of so call christian people compromising to begin with. The only legitimate person was the pastor.

Yes, it was about the preacher's daughter that was portraying the "prodical son" from the Bible. But the movie was giving too much credit to the devil than uplifting Jesus.

This movie evolved around some play called, "Daddy can I come back home?" Supposedly all christians in the film but there was a lot of drinking, partying, drugs,compromising, sleeping around, etc. Okay, okay, I understand that the movie was trying to show a point but again too much credit to the devil than uplifting Jesus!

I didn't feel like this movie was anointed at all like some other movies that I have seen that you feel like you have been administered.

I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone unless if you want to be dissapointed that there are hypocrites in the church.

Terrible movie. Full of things kids (or adults) should not see. The whole movie is very negative until the end when she comes back but it isn't even a very good ending. Very religious oriented and not relationship oriented.

I don't recommend this at all!

This movie was more like a Lifetime channel movie mingling a minute bit of Christianity amidst a lot of secular and immoral plots. The story line was bad. The acting was fair. However, the singing was great. I would not recommend this as a Christian movie.

This movie is great. I'm wiping away my tears of joy, as I write this review. I was born and raised in church and I went to a private school. I once was lost and stayed there for many years. I am now found and restored. I watched this remembering how easy it is to be lured away from God, even though I wanted to be pure and holy for the Lord, I didn't. Then I experienced guilt and shame, and how difficult it was to get out of the mess I created. BUT GOD! He stayed close while I didn't even know it. I cried out to Him and He welcomed me home. I don't recommend pg13 movies to anyone and I never watch them. Actually, didn't know this was one until I saw the previews with all the sex sceens in them. I am so glad I watched this one. Be cautious of the previews and be with your teen, if you want them to see this film. Oh, This movie is true-to-life! Michele Bergman

In urban films, there is a tremendous amount of cursing; but in Christian films, geared toward the urban (OK, African-American) market, this is toned down considerably. Even Tyler Perry films and plays have cursing, though it is very mild. Films geared toward a WASP audience typically do not garner large audiences in urban areas, so hence the urbanization of even Christian films. This is a wonderful Prodigal Son (rather, Prodigal Daughter) film and is highly recommended!

This is simply one of the finest Christian films available, not just for its reimaging of The Prodigal Son (now, The Prodigal Daughter), but also for its excellent production values. If you enjoy African-American Christian films (think Tyler Perry), you'll love this film!

I just saw the movie on tv and I have some mixed feelings about it! Yes, it definitely has a "prodigal son" message to it. I do believe the whole image of the "chitlin circuit" and shows of that nature are pretty on point, but I still have issues with it. Number one, the cursing. It really bothers me that so many "Christian themed" movies, plays, etc have cussing in it. Christians shouldn't cuss, and if they do, they can ask Jesus to deliver them from that spirit. One disturbing moment was when the main character went to the play and saw Devlin(great play on words!!!) bare chested on stage grinding!!! Really, does that need to be in a Christian movie?? What was more disturbing was the comment she made to her friend that so many people must get saved watching such a powerful show like that. Now don't get me wrong, she obviously didn't have a strong relationship with the Lord, but how could she believe that seeing a half naked man on stage would win people to the Lord??? That makes me wonder what type of spiritual guidance she was receiving from her father/pastor and church family. The ending was a bit sticky for me too. She came home, which I thought was wonderful, but the movie never tells if she renewed her relationship with the Lord or if she was ever saved from the beginning. That point should have been highlighted. Yes, she went out there and basically satisfied her curiosity, but when she came home, she got married. As a PK myself, one of the most important things is that when you backslide and come back home YOU NEED TO PRAISE GOD FOR BRINGING YOU OUT AND YOU NEED TO RE-ESTABLISH YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD. AND THAT MEANS SINCERE REPENTANCE. That point was never discussed in the movie. A strong relationship with the Lord is what keeps you from fallilng, keeps you from being curious about what's on the other side. Some aspects of the movie could 've been more tastefully done. I hope and pray that one day we will be able to see more christian movies produced, directed and starring SAVED ANOINTED PEOPLE. THE ANOINTING MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!!!!

Great modern-day version of the Prodigal Son. It had special meaning to me because my husband pastors a church and our teenage daughter recently survived a similar experience. Glory be to God that she has come to the conclusion that God's way is THE WAY!

I enjoyed this movie. It mirrored "the prodigal son". Angie wanted to be independent and live her life. She experienced what the world offered and then realized she needed to go back home. It was quite realistic and although drug use and some sexual scenes are noted; unfortunately it is what our young people are exposed too. Look at the underlying message.

This movie is excellent for young people raised in the church who are tempted to experience the "other side" of the world. It held my teen-aged daughter's attention. However, there were a few curse words and briefly explicit scenes - overall, it had a strong message that the "grass is not greener on the other side of the fence".
