Bringing Up Bobby is an utter waste of time, from our perspective. Possibly we're past the demographic target audience. Enjoy!

Its more for teens very confusing far awhile but eventually gets back on track. It has a good ending and a good message eventually. I almost turned it off but stuck to it. Glad I did

“A Different Kind of Comedy” is a very good description, because this is certainly a movie which is meant for those of an acquired comedic taste. I don’t know if older viewers will like this movie since this is targeted for teenagers and young adults; including some of the jokes. Bringing Up Bobby is more than a comedy, however, as there are a select number of serious scenes. I have already read a few reviews before writing this and though this isn’t a perfect movie, I didn’t feel it was terrible either and I feel giving it a 1 star is a bit harsh… (course one of those two 1 star rated reviews I read was from a professed Atheist lol)
Bringing Up Bobby is about a 16-year-old named Bobby who is trying to figure out who and how he should be as a man. This film is also about a contested Will, which is being fought over amongst the Wyler children of the deceased parents. Bobby has an unusual family: his brother Dennis is a drifter who also doesn’t seem to know where to go next in life and hopes for part of the Will money in order to pay back some “anarchists”, his sister Andrea is a selfish materialist who desires all of her deceased parent’s assets at the expense of family unity, and his other brother James is a Christian who has been raising Bobby like a father would. Bobby also has a friend named Eric whose mother is an alcoholic. Part of why Bobby is trying to find himself is because of a cute girl named Liz who is playing hard to get and is a Christian; James also has a bit of a love interest with his sister’s lawyer.
I’ll admit there were a few scenes where the creators of Bringing Up Bobby tried to make a joke and it kind of failed for me, but I did find some of the things in this movie funny nevertheless like the boxing lol. I like the concept of “The War Table” in that nothing is off the table for discussion while in attendance, although I can see how some viewers might feel the wearing of costumes is a bit weird. I like how the movie ended overall it seemed somewhat realistic and glad to see things turned out well for most of the characters. My main complaint for this film, however, is I don’t think the creators of Bringing Up Bobby understand Goths and anarchists as well as they think. Most of the talk concerning anarchists I didn’t find funny, except the one scene where Dennis timidly hides when he thinks an anarchist is knocking at the door. Theologically speaking I thought what James told Bobby about Christianity, God, and Jesus Christ were very well put. Granted there were a few imperfections, but I thought the film was decent and I liked it.

Great movie for preteens and teens. Off-the-wall comedy that the younger crowd likes while still presenting the idea of coming to face what you believe and live out for Christ. Not our favorite comedy style, but a nice change and family friendly for teens and adults (younger children might not understand the spoof of the "goth" and "Rastafarian" styles).

Bringing up Bobby was definitely a comedy - hilarious, silly, goofy, but also had its serious moments. It certainly explained Christianity as a relationship that couldn't be ignored. It made you think, while still making you laugh.

We really enjoyed this movie. It was just different enough to really be enjoyable. My pre-teen son loved it and kept wanting to watch it. It was more done as a spoof and not overly realistic. But the candor and fun they had as a family was touching. I also felt the acceptance of others (even those not walking in Christ) felt very like Christ's acceptance of the sinners he walked with. I especially enjoyed watching the extra about the movie production. I thought they did a great job

This was at the least amusing. I liked the actors even though it was a low budget film. I thinking putting yourself in ones situation always points to the facts & reasoning for the movie. It was good and I would recommend it but don't watch if you are tired, you might go nite nite. Good for Teenagers.

A very good movie with an effective presentation of the gospel using real life circumstances and some cute slap-stick comedy. Real life and problems are portrayed and addressed effectively with the Truth of the Word of God without being "preachy" or "corny" or "stale." Overall quality of the movie is very good for an independent film, and the majority of the actors do a wonderful job. We're always looking for movies to share with the community and youth groups that will capture their attention and at the same time give a clear presentation of the gospel this movie does a wonderful job of that!

Movie actually made me laugh out loud. Not a million dollar production but once you get into the story that fades away. I had a little be of a hard time getting past the "goth" but someone with a youth workers heart will see the humor and difficulty of it. I can not put my finger on it but I do recommend this movie.

My husband and I watched this movie with our 7 children ranging in ages from 14 years old to 5 years old. It was wonderful to put a movie on that the entire family could watch! It had a good, sound message. We were all laughing at some of the scenes!! I would highly recommend this film to anyone seeking solid, clean entertainment for the whole family!!!
