Created by Charles E. Sellier, The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams features Dan Haggerty as James ‘Grizzly’ Adams, a character loosely based on the actual 19th century mountain man.

After being accused of a crime he did not commit, Adams takes sanctuary in a remote mountain area in the American west, where he discovers and befriends an orphaned grizzly cub. The cub eventually grows into a full-sized grizzly bear that Adams affectionately calls Ben. Together, Adams and Ben learn to survive in the wilderness, assisted by an old trader named ‘Mad Jack’ (played by Denver Pyle) and a Native American named Nakoma (played by Don Shanks). Impressed with the way Adams has adapted to his environment and his uncanny rapport with animals, Nakoma and Jack come to appreciate Adams’ harmonious existence with nature. Unfortunately, Adams needs to be watchful for bounty hunters, even as he protects the wildlife he grows to cherish.

1. ADAM'S CUB - Mad Jack hunts for the parents of a girl, now in Grizzly's care, who became separated from her family during a trek into the West.

4. UNWELCOME NEIGHBOR - The fugitive receives a frosty reception from his snooty neighbors, who don't want anything to do with a hairy old trapper: until a sick child needs his help.
5. HOWDY-DO, I'M MAD JACK - A burro belonging to missing Mad Jack returns to camp alone, its saddlebag containing a diary that recounts how Jack met Grizzly.
6. ADAM'S ARK - A lawman barges in on Adam's frontier idyll, intent on hauling him off to face justice: but the threat of a volcanic eruption forces them to work together.
7. THE REDEMPTION OF BEN - While Grizzly recuperates from an accident, Ben falls prey to an animal trainer who tries to starve him into submission.
8. THE TENDERFOOT - The friends come across a young Theodore Roosevelt, who's left the comforts of home to prove himself in the rugged mountain wilderness.
9. THE RIVALS - Grizzly, fearing a gold rush, discourages Mad Jack from panning in a stream.
10. THE UNHOLY BEAST - An Indian sees a soldier riding a camel and believes the animal is a dangerous monster that should be killed.
11. BEAVER DAM - A family of beavers move into the valley and set about building a new dam, threatening Adam's cabin in the process.
12. HOME OF THE HAWK - James befriends a girl who longs to learn more about the great outdoors, but neglects her father in the process.
13. THE STORM - The intrepid woodsman is called in to find a youngster who vanished during a blizzard: has she been snatched by a legendary bear?
