Description:

Let There Be Life

When 20-year old Nathan Burr (Bradley Dorsey) loses his career and his girlfriend, he questions his purpose in life. Compounding his struggle, Nathan grew up in a foster home and never met his birth mother. Nathan sets out on a quest to find his mother and somehow come to terms with her rejection of him. His journey begins by flying to the city where he was born. Upon his arrival, Nathan checks into a hotel and meets Mave (Della Reese) the hotel’s housekeeper. Encouraged by Mave’s wisdom and the help of a hotel guest, Shelly, (Kristen Renton) Nathan finds the address of his mother, Linda Dixon (Erika Eleniak). Linda is a social worker who agonizes over a decision she made 20 years ago. In an effort to admonish the guilt of giving up her son, Linda is caught up in the life of a teenage mother, Tori (Erin Sossoman) who is conflicted by the decision to abort her baby. When Nathan gathers the courage to meet his mother, he uncovers a terrible secret that totally redefines what was meant to be for his life.

Meant to Be was a really good movie. It was somewhat of a christian version of "The Sixth Sense." I think all women or teens who have just found out they are pregnant, should see this movie. On the other hand, all women should see this movie.

Though I appreciate the pro-life message of the movie, I nonetheless found the movie to be creepy.Spoiler Alert:According to the movie, the dead live parallel lives to the living. So the aborted hero of the story, though dead, somehow manages to grow up and live a "normal" life. He of course, has no idea that he is dead. I guess he only interacts with other dead people who also have no idea that they are dead.So there are all these ghosts running around waiting to get into heaven. But they have no idea that they are waiting to get into heaven. It's only when the hero finally decides to search for his birth mother that the truth comes out.But the worst part is that the movie promotes a works based salvation. You see our dead hero hasn't been allowed into heaven because he has a job to do first. He must first forgive his mother for aborting him. Once he does this, than he is free to move on. And once he forgives his mother, than his mother, who is actually alive, is also able to finally forgive herself. And she is able to move on with her life.Creepy. Unbiblical. I really hated this movie.

MikeK asked: This movie trailer looks like it shows something like a premonition or future telling (the photo scene) - almost occult? Is this the meaning of that scene? Jan 4, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Julio R: No that's not the meaning, and there's nothing occult, you really have to watch the whole movie to understand. Nathan is one of the victims of the abortion. This movie shows how easy an abortion could be the solution for an unexpected pregnancy and also that an abortion will put an end of all your worries and shames, NO! it's the biggest lie, because since the moment of the conception, there's a new life sent by God, which is meant to be born, and instead of putting an end of all your worries, you putting an end of a life and you will regret it for the rest of your life and you will have no peace. The movie also show us how all the new unborn desperately look for their parents and after they know the truth, they forgive their parents. I recommend you to get this video. God Bless! Jan 8, 2013

Beverly B: I wouldn't really call the film occult, though there are some non-realistic parts in it. It is basically pro-life and I found it very touching and very well-made. I've watched it several times since I bought it (and this is coming from someone who never took a side on women's right to choose) I have since decided I can't be anything other than pro-life. Roger Lindley: Keep in mind, also, that this film is presented as a parable, an 'as if.' The filmmakers (I am one of them) understand some elements are not theologically correct; however, the whole of the movie is intended to be entirely uplifting in its pro life message. Jan 10, 2013
