I find such images repulsive and do not wish little people to be influenced by them. The movie would have been much better if there had been a strong message of God's love. I don't want to give away the plot here, but trust me, this movie is really weak and not what I want to use to influence youngsters. Also some other mild things too, like making a snowlady, which was embarrassing for mixed company. I have shown this to my nine year old grandchild whose parents are very strict on what they allow him to see even when it comes to Disney films. I have found the film good although I do not find it to be on a church basis so much. I could not find fault in it myself. There are so many films out there that aren't good that I felt this one does deserve credit for being a good family film. I hope this helps. Mar 18, 2012 Reply to deborah Good answer? It does introduce some themes, like death and illness, that can be emotional and that need to be explained to sensitive or younger children. Other than that we fould it to be a fun and good movie. Feb 12, 2012 Ian W: Please accept my apology in taking so long to answer your question. Your question: Was this movie edifying? In one word: Yes, but I will answer it in a more broad sense to help you understand what this movie is all about. It's about friendship, working together to achieve a goal and it's about forgiveness. There are other positive points but those are what I feel are the main ones. The movie's main actors are mainly children but Ray Liotta was amazing as Billy's (Bobby Coleman) dad. It's not a movie just for kids because adults can learn much from this film. Each time I watch it I see something I didn't see before and I've watched the movie 5 or is it 7 times since I purchased it. I've also watched all of the Special Features including the Director's Commentary which was very interesting. I like to do this with some movies though it can be very long but it canalso be extremely interesting to see how each scene was filmed and how they built some of the sets. But, I will say this, do not watch it until you've seen the movie or it will spoil it for you. I highly recommend this movie for everyone in the family as it reaches to every age group out there.
