Making God a factor in your everyday life in an effort to live the gospel not just read it. Great movie. My 13 year old daughter and I liked it. She copied down a lot of the verses they used. But the boys in the Christian Club and even the teachers were bored by it :-( The best thing about the movie were the statements on the screen within the first few minutes. The guys said one thing in their round table discussions, but they contradicted themselves in the movie takes (e.g., not focusing on girls, yet writing a French girl one of the guys just met on the trip). The guys were very transparent about their lives prior to this movie, yet how could they call themselves Christ-centered Christians in that pre-movie life? When the young fellow quoted Mt. 7:22-23 and then said, "That sucks!", it shows an appalling misunderstanding of the passage. I would not recommend this movie for use in a discussion setting or teaching setting. What we need to hear about is Christian young people who stand up for Christian values and a strong relationship with Christ. Someone once said, "We raise our kids in the church, but fail to raise them in Christ." This movie seems to fit with what we talk about in class May 25, 2011 A shopper asked: Is this a good film for the church to watch together? As we are looking to do a cinema night. Aug 28, 2011 Fredie W: Loved the movie very much. In fact, recommended it to others, who also bought it. My granddaughter (18) has watched it twice, so far. There are a few times when the 'crap' and 'pissed' words are used. That seemed a little out of place in this movie. However, without offering excuses for why I told others about it t, I would think this is, for many christians, unfortunately, considered 'normal' speech these days, though not normal for me. So, I'd suggest you watch it first before showing in on cinema night. But yes, a very nice movie. Aug 31, 2011 Reply to Fredie Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) Jennifer T: yes! I watched it with my college age son and we both felt very challenged by it. They bring up a lot of great points that challenge the way we live-in a good way! It really stresses for us to look at what a Christian is according to the Bible and not from what we have always been taught. If what we have been taught is correct from the Bible it will of course be the same, but if not, it is very thought provoking. Great movie with lots of great points! Aug 31, 2011 Reply to Jennifer Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) Caleb S: For a small group with a period for real discussion? Yes. For a larger mixed adult and child group? No. As pastor I took notes for discussion points, asked for feedback and talked about local experiences that matched the subject matter in the DVD. This got some good talk from late high school to college age kids in our youth group. -Caleb Sep 1, 2011 Reply to Caleb Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) Nina E: It is a good movie, but its fast, and at a pace set for the young... and its the short takes of the 4-guys who go out to ask others and experience themselves, who are Christian folks, and what do some believe. My daughter loved it, she's 22, but me and my husband late 50's had to watch it twice, to get the whole idea... Aug 31, 2011 Reply to Nina Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) Sandi L: I would recommend this film for Senior High and College Youth just because of the discussion about premarital sex. It is a very honest film...the teenagers in my home found it very useful, answering some question they had wondered about, and had never thought to ask. Very good film:) Aug 31, 2011 Reply to Sandi Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) Laura S: It is a great movie for teens and above, but probably not for very young children. Though it is an excellent movie that is a good conversation starter, it deals with the challenges these young men face as they try to follow God's will for their lives. Aug 31, 2011 Reply to Laura Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) Craig S: I honestly have not watched it yet, I bought it a few weeks ago when I saw it was on sale. I had planned to watch it with my Sr. Youth Group this coming fall as part of a discussion group. I am sorry I can not be more of a help with this. Aug 31, 2011 Reply to Craig Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) Richard R: It is a good movie to watch if the audience are 16-25 years olds.It is more of a documentary then a movie. It would be good for a youth cinema night otherwise it is a bit juvenile for an adult audience but this is just my opinion. Aug 31, 2011 Reply to Richard Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) john y: Beware of Christians is a very good documentary to watch. You have 4 christians that have shared there opinions and struggles that can very much relate to the Body of Christ and excellent movie thumbs up!!! Aug 31, 2011 Reply to john Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) David A: You can watch it together. Young kids may not get it, but overall it is a good movie to start some questions with your church. Aug 31, 2011 Reply to David Good answer? I look forward to watching it over. The film definitely held my attention. The main message was a call to genuine Christianity. What do non-believers see when they see me? Do they see anything different because I'm a Christian, or is it like being a sports fan? Sure I'm a Detroit Lions fan, but that doesn't make me fundamentally different than anybody else. Part of the beauty of the film is the honesty of it. Real people that I can relate to and like. At one point one of the guys is confessing what he struggles with. He says something like, "I struggle looking at stuff on the internet I shouldn't be looking at". After spilling the beans a little he says something like, "I'm not exactly a great role model." Which is really ironic because in that moment - he is! That's what Christ is all about, sin and grace. Our sin, His undeserved love that takes it ALL away. Our failure, His rescuing us. Jun 8, 2011 Reply to Caleb Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) Violet S: I am sorry to say that I was very disappointed in this dvd. From reading the discription of the video, I thought it would be much different. I was going to bring this video with us when we have a family vacation this summer and show it to our adult grandchildren. I think I willhave to find another video that makes the message more clear. I admire what the young men were trying to do and say, but, find it went all over the place and had too many pieces. No clear message as far as I was concerned. My husband and I viewed it togehter and kept waiting for it to have more substance. Sorry, but it did not meet our expectations. Jun 8, 2011 Reply to Violet Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) Gretchen P: Dear Jared, This movie definitely held my attention. It was a "thinking" movie unlike much of the media today and I actually had to watch it in two settings in order to take all of what was being addressed in. The core message I took away was that perhaps we need to rethink how we as Christians live our lives. That perhaps we let the society we live in shape our Christianity more than we think. I would highly recommend this movie and am looking forward to sharing with others. I hope this is helpful to you. May God bless you, Gretchen Jun 11, 2011 Reply to Gretchen Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) Blair G: I just watched half of the movie and I really enjoyed what I had seen. I'm looking forward to finishing it later tonight. The core message that I took from what I had seen is the idea that American churches (and many American Christians) do not live up to what it truly means to be a Christian. Several bible passages are examined during the movie and the journey these 4 guys take to discovering what it means to be Christian in the modern world makes for a great film.
