Joyce Leonard, 01/20/2010It was a good movie but disjointed. By the time we got to the end we we felt the editors had made too many cuts that left too many holes. (For example--the little boy wins the contest, but never practices? Just got to ride his horse in the arena yesterday?) Also, all of the kids won some sort of plaque at the end of the movie--but for what? As I said, just too many holes.

Samie Otteman, 12/02/2009I loved this movie! What an inspirational and encouraging story of 2 ministries that give their life to helping others. The cool thing about this movie is that the kids in the story don't stay in that cowboy environment but go back to help in their own world. There are quite a few funny parts and also some very touching scenes. Can't wait to tell my church about the site license that is available for this movie through Outreachfilms.com and get it shown to our entire community!

Doreen Ernst, 11/30/2009I thank God for The Gunn brothers and their wives. We need more Christians dedicated to spreading the Word of God. I personally know Randy and Heidi and "Set Apart" shows them just as they are....2 wonderfull people full of God's love..This movie will touch your heart to the love and trust that is extended to the at risk youth in the story. You see, I know that this could be reality...knowing the Gunn's as I do.. Thank the Lord for families like these two that put God's work 1st and foremost in their lives....The movie is one that I would reccommend church's, especially inner city ones, to show their youth...you never know when just the right inspiration will fall on one that is seaking help and the Lord.
We need more movies like "Set Apart" that families can watch...clean, wholesome and inspiring.

Gabrielle Moore, 11/29/2009I was very happy with the movie and thought that both ministries offer a powerful yet humble approach of helping others as they share the message of salvation. There were quite a few funny moments and the ending was great!

Simone Ball, 10/07/2009I am very sad that I cannot rate the movie higher than I did. It had been recommended by people whose opinion I value, and I had been looking forward to its release very much.
It is indeed "clean" entertainment, and maybe a Christian family can sit down together and watch it and talk about it. But it falls short of what I had expected.
City kids are taken out of their (bad) environment to be turned into "cowboys" - why not Christians? There is some reference to trusting God, but there is no mention of sin separating us from God or a need for the gospel. The (presumably Christian) adults can't give any convincing explanation of why they live as "cowboys" (which seems to be identical with Christian since the main Christian family travels as singing cowboys).
It has some merits, e.g. the portrayal of teens in the city life. Once again, Christian families can sit down and view it together, and can turn it into an experience of talking about it. But it certainly does not provide enough explanation for non-Christians to be useful.

Stephen Perry, 10/02/2009If you want a movie for teens to watch with no bad language and the good guys win at the end, the movie is okay. If you want a movie that mentions the name of Jesus Christ or presents the gospel in a clear way, forget it. Jesus' name is not mentioned even once in the whole movie. The two or three prayers said in the movie do not end in Jesus' Name, just "Amen." God's name was mentioned several times, but never His Only Begotten Son who one must go through to get to God. Many religions have a “god,” and this movie would not offend any of them. I was very disappointed.
