Updated: 9/3/2010 6:00pm PDT Description: House is a tale of punishment and redemption that will keep you pinned to the edge of your seat. Best selling, Christian suspense authors Ted Dekker (Thr3e) and Frank Peretti (This Present Darkness, The Visitation) transform their supernatural novel into the thrilling film House. The film follows Jack (Reynaldo Rosales, TV's "Medium") and Stephanie Singleton (Heidi Dippold, HBO's "The Sopranos"), a self-absorbed couple who get sidetracked on their way to a counseling session. After blowing out their tires, they find their way to a ramshackle B&B where they meet an equally self-obsessed couple. The foursome quickly find themselves terrorized by a household of ghoulish servants and a masked lunatic, known as "The Tin Man" (Michael Madsen, Kill Bill: Vol. 2), who demands a dead body by sunrise. Their only way out, it seems, is to venture further in. But the deeper they go, the more horrifying the killer's game and their night becomes. Can they escape the spiritual evil that threatens their very souls? The guilty cannot hide. Read our exclusive interview with producer Ralph Winter and our review of the film.

I will never rent another film without first reading the exsisting reviews. This film isn't so much scary, as disturbing, which is worse. The whole thing accents the kind of sins that make you ill instead of a hollywood scare. Coupled with an absurd worldly concept of saving it is not entertaining in anyway. It also leaves you feeling like you want a shower. House: The Movie - DVD – Dominick Malchiodi, 05/20/2010This was the first movie i have ever turned off because of the content. I really thought this was going to be a movie about spiritual warfare. But it wasn't. It was a horror movie. There was no mention of Jesus in the movie. It was very, very, very, dark. A lot of violence and there was NO REDEEMING QUALITY! I would recommend that Christian cinema remove this movie as one their inventory. Watching this movie will open the door to the enemy. Blessings. House: The Movie - DVD – Laura Smith, 03/23/2010I have read 2 other of Frank Peretti's books and that is why I jumped at the chance to see this movie. I finally turned it off after being really bothered by the movie anyway, at the part where they are in the meat locker. This movie was pretty disturbing and I am pretty surprised that this movie is being lent out on a Christian movie rental place. Bad, bad movie and am so glad that I didn't have my 12 and 15 year old watching along with me. House: The Movie - DVD – Tracy Swanson, 03/20/2010Not a Christian film that's why I gave it only 2 stars. Now if I was to rate it on Horror Flicks I would give it 5 stars. This film, again, is not a Christian film but it is one of the creepiest horror flicks I've ever seen. Great acting and great production value. House: The Movie - DVD – karen sherry, 03/12/2010Not what I would consider a family movie, in fact I am supprised that you would have this at all... do not like House: The Movie - DVD – Mary McGaffey, 12/10/2009I was greatly dissapointed. This was my first movie i tryd and it was deffintly not a christain movie. I would nor reccomned this move to a christain home. House: The Movie - DVD – Chris Dickens, 01/30/2009I realize that movies based on books always have certain elements left out. With "House", I was hoping for a pretty accurate portrayal of the story in this film. While the story does follow along nicely with Mr. Dekker's and Mr. Peretti's novel, they left out one CRUCIAL part of the story--the explanation of the symbolism. Even though I had read the book, I still felt as though I was missing something huge when this film was over. The acting is rather stiff in this, so you never really feel for the people as they progress through the plot twists like you did with the novel.
While director Robbie Benson does a great job on the look to the movie, as he does with all of his films, he needs to really PUSH the cast into creating memorable characters that will really make people want to see his works. As it is, he is only attracting an audience who is already familiar with the novel. House: The Movie - DVD – Frank Young, 11/04/2008House is awesome! I've seen the movie and it's creepy! All the elements of a perfect horror film is in there. It's full of psychological twists that will tickle your imagination. The music is good too! I might add that there's no "can't-see-the-dark" scenes in it. Really cool!
What the authors (Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker) want us to be aware of is the presence of evil among us. The movie tells it all in an entertaining manner. Christian movie at it's best... House: The Movie - DVD – Jacob Larson, 10/04/2008Thanks for the information because it was kinda hard
for me to find it on this movie's release date.
I think Peretti should get tribute for writing the book
as well since you just mentioned Dekker. Displaying 1 to 9 (of 9 reviews) ( View all 9 reviews) | |
