Carly Simmons moves to California from Texas to live with her grandfather Peter Brown, a movie animal trainer. Carly helps her grandfather train the dogs and horses for movie work. Then we see clips from the finished movies: a western, a commercial with a police chase and K-9 unit, a TV detective series and a tongue-in-cheek horror movie. We also meet several veteran actors: Peggy Stewart (Gunsmoke), Robert Hoy (High Chaparral), Mike Moroff (Desperado), Mayf Nutter (The Waltons), Martin Kove (The Karate Kid), and Anne Lockhart (Battlestar Galactica).
