For centuries, believers, scoffers and the curious have wondered at the Biblical account of the Star of Bethlehem. The Bible recounts unusual or even impossible astronomical events at Christ’s birth. For many doubters, the account of the Star is easily dismissed as myth. For many believers, it’s a mystery accepted on faith. But what happens if we combine current scriptural accounts, astronomical fact and a desire for truth? The Star of Bethlehem documents the search to understand how the Lord used the stars and planets to reveal His plans for Christ’s birth. Uncover the mystery for yourself. Sensed the presence of the Holy Spirit as I watched this on TBN last night. The video brings you even closer to God as you realize his grand scheme in His omnipresence and omnicience in ordering our world! Would recommend it for believers and especially for unbelievers! God bless you! Excellent study. I will be showing it at our church during Christmas. If it is true what a wonderful way God has worked to reveal His mysteries to us. Fascinating, professional presentation. Done with excellence. Surprisingly, I watched the second time with Bible and yellow highlighter in hand, because it was such a rich teaching. I was so impressed, I e-mailed my friends and family the Christian Cinema.com link and said, "The Star of Bethlehem was a "MUST SEE." I am ordering 10 copies and giving them away to neighbors as an early Christmas gift... Why wait till December to share the Good News? My Rating: 5 Stars Sorry, but this is an amateur's approach to explaining the star that is mentioned in the Bible. It isn't real science. It is one hundred percent conjecture. This is not to say that the investigator might not be correct in some or even many or his conclusions, but science it is not. People don't suddenly become scientists overnight. So this movie should not ever be referred to in phrases like "scientific method" and "science." It is amateur investigation resulting in an interesting theory. Some might call his theory "fanciful." I don't go that far, but I do know that this is not science. Furthermore, if you're willing to sit through this man's explanation of his "discoveries" as he delivers them, speaking far too quickly to be able to really comprehend what he is saying, and with the images flashing on the screen to make up for the absolutely static scene of his talking head, then more power to you. I found his spiel difficult to follow, logically, and no time is given to his audience to process what he is saying. The truth is that so far there is no scientifically proven explanation for the Star of Bethlehem. It could have been any number of things, including the miraculous appearance of a star that appeared only once, never before, and never again. His explanation that this celestial conjunction appears only once in three thousand years leads immediately to the question: "Well then, what happened when it appeared three thousand years before Christ's birth?" To which he offers no explanation whatsoever, nor to the next question: "What is to happen when it appears again in nine-hundred and ninety years?" Yes, he is correct in saying that the universe as it appears from earth is a gigantic clock, but people all over the world have known that for many centuries: the Chinese, the Mayans, the Persians, the neolithic builders of Stonehenge. Apparently this was news to him, but it is far from news to anyone with even a cursory knowledge of astronomy. Maybe if the gentleman-turned-astronomer would speak more slowly, and if the production company that did this video would use a bit more imagination, I would rate this film higher; but as it stands, it is just another attempt to explain not only the star of Bethlehem, but also an eclipse of the moon on the night following Christ's crucifixion (which has no basis in Scripture) as semi-natural events used by Heaven to mark these two astonishing events: the birth and death of the Savior. As I say: what he proposes might be so. But then again, it might not. The science is just not there. The whole thing is like the rapidly increasing imaginative movies about the End Times-- using a passage of Scripture to create some scenario about a future event the date of which that even Christ admitted He did not know, since only the Father knows. Maybe God planned the event of Christ's birth to coincide with the retrograde motion of the planet Jupiter in the constellation Leo, and maybe He didn't. But this man doesn't really know more about it than anybody else, in my opinion, although he now does understand far more about the relative motion of planets and constellations than he did before he began to study it on his own. This movie/documentary is awsome! My heart was pounding the whole time I was watching because I knew in my heart what I was hearing was real - it made a difference and had the potential to change peoples hearts and minds. It was exciting to know that this man had been given the forsight and knowledge because he had gone seeking it!! The Word of God says to "seek and you shall find" - this found me!! I was awed at the true magnificence of our Lord! The God of Creation has blessed us with knowledge that we haven't completely comprehended as yet. Truely amazing - it made me want to Praise God even more!! A step by step scientific approach is the method employed to reveal a startling spiritual truth. Intertwined is the presenter's personal journey of discovery. The conclusions that are reached make the journey more than worthwhile for the viewer, but I must admit there are times when some of the details caused my mind to wander a bit. There is a bonus feathure that is a "must see" to cap off this extraordinery presentation. You will come away with a new appreciation for the lengths God has gone to reveal His plan of salvation, and how diligent we sometimes must be to discover it! This is my 2009 Christmas gift for my clients. The Star of Bethlehem - DVD Already Asked: 3 Questions, 33 Answers
Sort by: ChristianCinema.com Store asked: Why did you choose this? Cristina S: If this is the video we saw at church, we really wanted a copy of our own - hard science and powerful stuff! Dec 19, 2015 Kay E: Heard review of this on the radio....amazing that technology can go back to the time of the birth of Jesus and discover what was happening in the heavens ...you will be amazed Sep 21, 2014 Sandra C: I saw it on tv the other night (most of it), and I want others to learn from it (see somewhat the bigness of our God). I plan to ask to share it at church. I will certainly watch it with my family. May God, Who is Awsome Plus in His greatness as "I AM," continue to bless His work. Dec 28, 2011 gary d: This has a very technical answer to what the 'star' really was. It is based on a study of astronomy. I found this presentation to be the most plausible answer to what the 'star' was that is mentioned in the gospels. Dec 27, 2011 Michele E: It is a great DVD you can share with friend and families about the scientific findings that authenticate the Star of Bethlehem Dec 14, 2011 Cindee G: IT TRULY SHOWS THAT OUR ADONAI IS NOT ONLY REAL, but how HE HAS PLANNED EVERYTHING OUT BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF TIME. Oct 19, 2011 Cherie A: We want our children to hear evidence that supports the Bible. We believe it will strengthen their faith and confidence when sharing the gospel with others. Mar 4, 2011 Joan B: I saw this on TBN 2:00-3:00 AM this AM - one of the best programs I've seen - definitely a faith builder Dec 7, 2010 Gretchen I: I've always loved this part of the Christmas story and songs like Do you hear what I hear? I was curious to learn more about the star and its origins and meanings. Dec 12, 2010 Anne T: I recently saw this video at school. I loved it so much and told my friends about it, now they want to see it also,so I purchased my own copy. Nov 29, 2010 Maria R asked: I'm looking for a christmas DVD for my grandchildren ages 4, 3 and 2. I would like to know if you think it would be suitable for them. Thanks Cristina Nov 30, 2010 bill p: Hi Maria, This is an awesome DVD, but not really meant for the younger ones. I wouldn't give this to anyone younger than maybe High School age. It is set up like a documentary sort of and goes into much depth about the star and proving what they saw and where it was. It is quite incredible and very interesting. You may want to get this just for yourself. I highly recommend this to all adults. I hope this was helpful for you. -Bill Nov 30, 2010 Reply to bill Good answer? We have bought and given away this movie to our Christian friends. So for little children, I would say no to this particular movie for them, however for you and your adults or teen friends a definite YES. We will again purchase and give away this movie for Christmas this year, it is wonderful. Dec 2, 2010 Reply to Cynthia Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) DENISE P: it would not be suitable for children so young and even for some adults it is very revelatory, and deep however, it is very interesting but requires research and study to be able to relate and even follow it, to the point of understanding how awesome it really is. Denise Dec 5, 2010 Reply to DENISE Good answer? Bill Dec 1, 2010 Reply to William Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) Colette W: Hello Maria, This is a great movie but, it is very scientific and reall for a more mature audience. Maybe when they are in their late teens. Merry Christmas! Colette W. Nov 30, 2010 Reply to Colette Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) JoAnne S: The Star of Bethlehem DVD is fantastic -- for adults. Even adults need to watch it a few times to really absorb it. I wouldn't get it for little ones. JoAnne Sidell Dec 1, 2010 Reply to JoAnne Good answer? Excellent video if you want an in-depth explanation. I have watched it several times to get all the details. Showed it at my Sunday class. Dec 27, 2011 Reply to gary Good answer? And if you're wanting to play it outside the US, it is a region 0 DVD and playable anywhere. Dec 27, 2011 Reply to William Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) Reply to Christine Good answer? Yes (0) No (0) |
