In a stunning retelling of the epic Old Testament story, Elana Eden portrays the beautiful Ruth, who, as a young girl, is sold to worshipers of the stone god Chemosh. As a young woman, however, she is moved by the plight of a Jewish slave named Mahlon (Tom Tryon), renounces her idolatry, frees him and befriends his mother, Naomi (Peggy Wood). When tragedy compels the women to make the arduous journey to Jerusalem, Ruth meets Boaz (Stuart Whitman) and falls in love. But as she is promised to another, she must rely on her courage, wits, and newfound faith to find the peace she's longed for since she can remember. Both heartbreaking and compelling, The Story Of Ruth is a riveting film you won't soon forget! Customer Testimonials: " A friend told me about your site. To beleiver you should read the bible its our Job.
We need to meet unbeleiver at their level not ours. They need baby step first. Nothing wrong with movie. It's a movie!. We need to reach the lost. Gods way. Lets keep in open mind when showing movies to always keep the bible at hand to explain the truth. It's the trueth and the way that will draw them in. PRAY! The Story of Ruth - DVD – Bobbi Jordan, 06/26/2008To the reviewer below me... you do realize, don't you, that the part about Ruth being a priestess to the false god was made up? It's not in the Bible at all. That's what everyone is upset about. The film makers made up a lot of stuff in this movie that doesn't fit with the biblical account. At all.
I actually had some mixed feelings about this movie. In general, you can count on Hollywood to get it wrong when they make a biblical movie. It's a rare movie that even comes close. Having said that, even though there's no proof whatsoever that Ruth was a priestess, the culture she lived in did worship that false god (and probably many others) and they did do child sacrifice. It was one of the things that God called an abomination. There was one scene that really struck me. When she went to talk to the high priest about her doubts about child sacrifice, the high priest told her all the things they got from their god because of the sacrifice. I couldn't help but think that OUR God not only gives us His blessings, but HE came to be our sacrifice. And I think that point was made pretty strongly by this movie. Even if they did have a ton of facts wrong. The Story of Ruth - DVD – Cita Sampson, 04/10/2008I don't know why people were so upset who reviewed this movie. I watched this movie with people who weren't believers and when they saw all the things Ruth was involved in before they were encouraged by her ability to change her mind, renounce her former lifestyle and go with Naomi wanting to worship a living God. It helped them believe God will accept them too. In my book that makes this a great movie! The Story of Ruth - DVD – Margaret Rogers, 02/20/2007How PATHETIC! THIS IS NOT BIBLICAL! This is a work of FICTION! REPEAT, read the book of Ruth. Reading the book of Ruth will take less time than watching this film and will leave you with TRUTH, not someone's imagination posing as a Bible story. The Story of Ruth - DVD – tashima sample, 12/15/2006THIS WAS HORRIBLE!!! I thought I was going to get the story of Ruth, NOT it didn't really reflect the bible at all. The only good thing about it, it made me read the bible again.. to see if I read it wrong....that is how far off it was. Must NOT see! I give it -5 The Story of Ruth - DVD – Francois Muller, 06/22/2006How disappointed I was when I watched this movie. Not a true reflection of Ruth I learned about in the Bible.
There is so little truth to this movie that I will not show it to anyone. Displaying 1 to 6 (of 6 reviews) ( View all 6 reviews) |
