The inspiring story of a woman's unforgettable tale of love, faith, and courage

In a stunning retelling of the epic Old Testament story, Elana Eden portrays the beautiful Ruth, who, as a young girl, is sold to worshipers of the stone god Chemosh. As a young woman, however, she is moved by the plight of a Jewish slave named Mahlon (Tom Tryon), renounces her idolatry, frees him and befriends his mother, Naomi (Peggy Wood).

When tragedy compels the women to make the arduous journey to Jerusalem, Ruth meets Boaz (Stuart Whitman) and falls in love. But as she is promised to another, she must rely on her courage, wits, and newfound faith to find the peace she's longed for since she can remember.

Both heartbreaking and compelling, The Story Of Ruth is a riveting film you won't soon forget!

2 of 5 Stars! The Story of Ruth - DVDKeith M, 03/19/2015
The story doesn't follow very well what we do know from the Bible. Although there is much that is not known from the Biblical account and there may be much open to imagination, the writers of this script should have not diverged in crucial ways from the Bible account as they did.

The beginning of the story displays the awfulness of the idolatry in Moab well, but the portrayal of the people of Bethlehem as petty and hostile towards Ruth seems inappropriate relative to our general knowledge of the Israelite people. Additionally, the movie portrays Boaz rather uncharitably.
4 of 5 Stars! The Story of Ruth - DVDAngela M L, 03/11/2015
DVD of the Story of Ruth is very good and truly story about life of Ruth. Ruth, who was Moabites woman, used to believe and obeyed Chemosh Gods. She had accepted to die for Chemosh because she believed that she will live a life eternal but she had blemish. So,
the lady found another girl who didn't have blemish and picked her to die for Chemosh. However, Ruth grew up as a lady and had converted to Christ because her husband Mahlon had taught about God's truly words. She was so humbled and Christian daughter in law to Naomi who was the wife of Elimilech. Ruth and Naomi had moved from Moab to her home Bethelem because of new crops. Ruth had found good 2nd husband Boaz who was the master of the field and had married to him. Ruth had a son named Obed. David was the grand great son to Ruth. Jesus Christ was an ancestery of Ruth family. :) Smile
