Updated: 2/8/2010 4:26pm PST Description: Where tragedy confronts eternity; an exciting new book that will challenge your faith! Mackenzie Allen Philips’ youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant The Shack wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book! William P. Young was born a Canadian and raised among a stone-age tribe by his missionary parents in the highlands of what was New Guinea. He suffered great loss as a child and young adult and has overcome a host of inner demons to live a fulfilled life in his 50's. "When the imagination of a writer and the passion of a theologian cross-fertilize the result is a novel on the order of The Shack. This book has the potential to do for our generation what John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress did for his. It's that good!" - Eugene Peterson, Professor Emeritus Of Spiritual Theology, Regent College, Vancouver, B.C.
"An exceptional piece of writing that ushers you directly into the heart and nature of God in the midst of agonizing human suffering. This amazing story will challenge you to consider the person and the plan of God in more expansive terms than you may have ever dreamed." - David Gregory, author of Dinner with a Perfect Stranger
“I received a copy of The Shack during a very difficult transition in my life. The story has blown the door wide open to my soul and during this time I’ve asked many questions. It reminds me that though I ask, “Why?”, I know who is still in control.” - Wynonna Judd, Recording Artist
The Shack is a one of a kind invitation to journey to the very heart of God. Through my tears and cheers, I have been indeed transformed.” - Patrick M. Roddy, Emmy Award-winning producer, ABC News

It has given me a new perspective on God (Papa), the Holy Spirit (Sarayu), Jesus and relationships. To get a glimpse of the wonders of our Lord this way was so impacting. This book was definitely God inspired and there's a lot of truth and wisdom in it. This is a MUST read! I pray a movie is made based on this book for those that are more "visual", like me. ;) I think it will go great hand in hand - double blessing and double impact! The Shack - Book – JOYCE SEELOW, 09/27/2009this book is very heartwarming i was so amazed . and so happy i picked it up and read it.to all of those that have not had the chance to read oh you are missing out on life and god thank you so much for giving me that chance. joyce seelow The Shack - Book – Linda Moyers, 08/04/2009I really enjoyed this book, and my coworkers are also reading it and many 4, or 5 have also read it and several are beginning to read it. We all agree it's and awesome book, that stimulated us to think outside the box. Sometimes, as Christian's I think we do tend to put God into a box to fit something we've been wrongly taught as achild, but with this book I find myself only feeling closer to God, and I know He really does want a relationship with me more than anything, second to my profession of Him as my Lord.
Although, this book is supposedly fiction, and one can interpret whatever they want to be fiction, their are parts , I believe that are very factually based, and right on target. The author had to of had some Divinely inspired ideas to do such a wonderrful job in writing this book.
I may not agree with all his ideas, but we all have that choice, and know the differrence in what is true and what is not. Fiction is just that, Fiction. As we say in ALANON, and AA------take what y ou like and leave the rest.
In closing, I would not recommend this book to someone who is a brand new, young Christian, but for us seasoned ones, I believe we will have no trouble picking out what is the ficiton and what is not, and it's not something we need to get our Christian underpants in a wad over. After reading this book I felt a sense of reknewed and wider understanding of God's love for me and how deeply he loves ALL his children, and is always with us when we are going through trials and tribulations. That said, I enjoyed it thoroughly. The Shack - Book – Trish Burdick, 06/26/2009I have been a Christian since my 20s, and have always found God to be very distant, but after I lost my husband a few months ago some friends gave me a copy of The Shack. In reading it, God became alive to me. He is now my PaPa and we fellowship daily and I feel the tangible presence of Sarayu at every turn. Jesus is ever present in healing and grace. We have become a foursome. Through The Shack, I can see my husband in his heavenly body like I never thought imaginable. Thank you Mack for sharing your heartbreak with the world and for giving us a glimps into eternity. The Shack - Book – Terry Lage, 05/19/2009I read "The Shack" twice and both times, were moved gut-wrenching pain and joy. I too,
stereotyped God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit into someone they are not. This book the perfect
love that God has for us, and portrays His thoughtfulness for us as individual children, so
beautifully. I hope that this becomes a movie. The world needs to have an irrisistable Papa.
This has become my favorite novel of all times. The Shack - Book – Charlotte Brewer, 05/05/2009I just finished this wonderful book. I am still at a loss of words over the effect it has had on me. I am just seeing life and relationships in a whole different perspective. I would recommend this book to anyone going through any type of relationship problems. The Shack - Book – Sharon Woodruff, 05/04/2009I had a very hard time as far as following Jesus but this book made me really think I told everyone about it and it spread like wild fire down here everyone was already reading it. It inspired and if I had the extra money I usually dont have ant left after bill I would buy everyone of his book Ta\hat was such a great book

In Christ Sharon Woodruff The Shack - Book – renee brown, 04/20/2009All I can say is the Lord really spoke to me thru this book... I, like Mack lost a child,, was abandoned by my earthly fatherly... I had many of the questions he did and reading this set me free from my "religious" ideals of GOD....... I plan on sharing this with all I can,,,, Praise the Lord He works thru so many channels... My the beautiful colors of the Savior blend us all into a masterpiece for all to see for His glory !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Shack - Book – Michael Leach, 04/02/2009I've walked with the Lord Jesus now for half of my life. While my experiences with the Lord have been tremendous, "The Shack" has sky-rocketed them to 'beyond what I could ask or think'!! I've always dispised religeous concepts of our Great God and this book has blown the doors, walls and everything else away from those concepts! Thank you, Paul Young, for sharing your heart with us! The Shack - Book – Teresa Tolbert, 03/21/2009Who among us can DRAW a picture of GOD ?? ... we experience HIM while on our journey. As I read, I held my breath, and could only read bits at a time... mainly because I needed to 'soak it in' and I could relate to the relationship that Mack experienced.
Who am I to say Mack's experience IS or IS NOT """REAL""" ....How do I know what is real ?? ONLY BY MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MY LIVING JESUS .... I LOVE THIS INSIGHT/SHARING INTO YOUR EXPERIENCE .... WHY ARE WE SO DUMB TO PUT OUR GOD INTO TINY BOXES THAT WE CREATE ...???
PLEASE GOD, GIVE US MORE WRITERS WITH THE COURAGE TO SHARE THE EXPERIENCES THEY HAVE WITH OUR LIVING GOD .... WOW ...
I HELD MY BREATH UNTIL THE LAST PAGE. THIS IS THE LOVING GOD I WANT MY GROWN CHILDREN TO MEET ... NOT THE HARD NOSE god I TRIED TO SHOVE DOWN THIER THROATS FOR MOST OF THIER 30-40 YEARS .... NO WONDER THEY WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT god. THANK YOU JESUS FOR GIFTED WRITERS WHO CAN PUT THE SUPERNATURAL INTO WORDS THAT MINISTER LIFE TO ALL WHO HAVE A HEART TO EMBRACE OUR CREATOR.. OUR GOD...OUR JESUS...OUR HOLD SPIRIT ...
I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE MY PAPA .... THANK YOU JESUS Displaying 1 to 10 (of 34 reviews) ( View all 34 reviews) | |
