Prom in 5
by Angela Walker, Contributing Writer

Prom PosterI didn't attend my high school prom, but I know it's an occasion that contains all the drama of a weekly soap opera. Multiple critics use the phrase "it grows on you" to describe the film. That's hardly a recommendation; so does fungus. One of these types of films comes out every couple of years, with the producers hoping to create another PRETTY IN PINK or SAY ANYTHING; a movie to be watched over and over, with appeal for several generations. I don't think this is going to be that one.

Synopsis:
At PROM, every couple has a story and no two are exactly alike. Several intersecting stories unfold at one high school as the big dance approaches; PROM portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite.

For Nova Prescott (Aimee Teegarden), it's a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy (Thomas McDonell) who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Fellow seniors Mei (Yin Chang) and Tyler (De'Vaughn Nixon) harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school's most seminal events. There are hundreds of nights in high school, but there's only one PROM.

Rating:
PROM is rated PG for mild language and a brief fight

[5] Words from [5] Critics:
Movieline: Sweetness, nonthreatening conflict and personality.

RedEye: A not very good cliche.

AssociatedPress: Means well, grows on you.

BoxOfficeMagazine: It's genuinely human and relatable.

EntertainmentWeekly: Savvy heart grows on you.

Quote For The Day
"Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation. Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see-kings, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him. He existed before everything else began, and he holds all creation together."
- Colossians 1:15-17
