Parrish Smith the son of a preacher always fell asleep in church when he was a child... until his father started telling stories. It was the storytelling that engaged him and those stories made the Word relevant to him in his every day life. The story of "The Scroll: Evidence of Life Unseen" some might say has been in the works for over 30 years.

Dove Worldview:
"The Scroll" is a terrific documentary that will inspire every viewer that sees it! It deals with so many issues regarding human struggle, that it is bound to touch people everywhere. The topics include dealing with racism, thinking too highly of one's self, the stains of our lives that lead us to a better life, dealing with the death of loved ones, and many other topics that affect humanity such as facing death and gaining an appreciation of life.

There are many bishops and religious leaders featured in the program, including Bishop T.D. Jakes. Bishop Kenneth Ulmer of Faithful Central Baptist Church in California talks about never forgetting the look on his father's face when young Kenneth was denied going on a boat with his music class on a field trip because of the color of his skin. He remembers hearing the word "nigger" thrown at his father and the look of embarrassment and humiliation on his father's face. But as the DVD powerfully demonstrates, things happen when real problems meet real faith. Years later Kenneth spoke to over 80,000 men at the Promise Keepers' meeting in the Oakland Coliseum and over 90% of them were white men. The documentary illustrates vividly what the power of God can do.

Other ministers include Bishop Eddie L. Long, who shares that he learned not to be afraid to fail, but he feared being successful at the wrong thing. Dr. Jamal Bryant speaks of his daughter spilling punch on her dress and how he couldn't get her home to change her right away, and how he went through the disgrace of a public stain when he had a moral failure, and his marriage failed. Rev. Bernice A. King shares how she became angry with God when her mother and sister died within a short time of each other and how she would not be a hypocrite but stopped preaching until she worked through her feelings with God. These are real people speaking about real problems and how that God is faithful to those that trust in Him. The topics including choosing to live and one man shares his story about facing colon cancer and trusting God for his life.

We happily award this faith based documentary, "The Scroll", the Faith Friendly Seal for ages twelve plus, due to the sophisticated themes. Parents should consult our content listing as they might be fine with their children a bit under twelve watching the documentary. This one will speak to you and inspire you!
