Brought back from near-death by Edward after childbirth, Bella begins her new life as a vampire and mother to their daughter, Renesmee. When the Volturi are led to believe that Renesmee was not born as a vampire but, rather, turned into one in violation of their code, the Volturi set out to destroy the child and the Cullen clan; however the Cullens band together with vampires from around the world to stand united against the Volturi.
The first "Twilight" movie received our Dove Seal but since then it has been either language or violence in the films which prevented us from awarding our Seal to the subsequent movies. In this case it is once again violence which prevents us from doing so for this, the final film in the series. There are several decapitation scenes, scenes in which heads are literally pulled from bodies and this rates a four in the content listing, and any category rated a three or above does not receive the Dove Seal.
The story revolves around Edward and Bella (Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart), now married, and their half-human half-vampire daughter named Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy). The daughter appears normal in many respects but is aging at a fast rate. A group of other-worldly creatures called the Volturi want the child. Jacob (Taylor Lautner) is given the duty of protecting the daughter. Bella has taken to her new life, stating, "My time as a human was over but I never felt more alive. I was born to be a vampire." However, she worries for the safety of her daughter.
Without plot spoiling, the story wraps up in a way which should be satisfying to legions of "Twilight" fans. However, it sadly falls short of our Dove Seal due to the violent content.
