"R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour" is an anthology series aimed at kids and teens, and inspired by the stories of horror master R.L. Stine. Each thirty minute episode is a talk of horror and suspense, invariably involving a supernatural element. Disdaining gore and overt violence, the episodes rely on sharp storytelling and imaginative cinematic techniques to evoke chills, thrills and scares.
Horror movies are not my thing but this first collection from "R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour" reminds me of a TV show I watched as a young kid called "The Twilight Zone". This is a collection of five episodes (the first two are a continuation of the same story) are thrillers that will have you on the edge of your seat to see what happens next. These eerie tales cover many different chilling abnormal adventures in the horror genre. Volume one does not carry the normal gory horror that movies show now days.
Due to the scare factor, we award this DVD with the Dove "Family Approved 12+ Seal for all those interested in horror that are over the age of twelve.
Violence: Girl breaks leg off from another girls doll; bullying of others.
Other: Scary scenes; girl becomes a doll; boy changes place with a ghost; werewolves; scary creature.
