Synopsis:
Andy's mother has had enough of her rebellious teenage daughter, so she sends her out into the desert near Castle Rock with her grandpa (Ernest Borgnine) and his dog, Farley, for a serious reality check. As they're setting up camp, Farley takes off and Andy goes looking for him. When she returns, her grandpa is nowhere to be found-rescued by some locals after suffering a terrible stroke. Now Andy and Farley are alone in the desert with no other options except to make the trek to the nearest town. But they're not alone for long when they come across Antonio, a young illegal immigrant on the run from border patrol. If they want to make it out alive, they'll have to stick together.

Dove Worldview:
This movie is fantastic and will have you watching intensely to see what happens next. It features veteran actor Ernest Borgnine, who plays "Grandpa", and he is selected by his daughter Libby (Pamela Bach) to spend time with his precocious teenage granddaughter Andy (played terrifically by Alana Austin).

When Grandpa has a stroke while traveling with Andy near the desert (they had stopped to rest), Grandpa's friend Mack (Frank Gorshin) comes along to visit him as they had bumped into each other earlier at a convenience store. With Andy chasing the family dog Farley and trying to get him to come back, Mack is unaware that Grandpa's granddaugther is nearby and finds Grandpa on the ground and rushes him to the hospital, leaving Andy behind.

A young prisoner named Antonio has escaped and he and Andy cross paths. But Antonio is not all bad. He and Andy help one another and effectively save each other's lives. They grow attracted to each other too. With Andy's mom Libby desperate to find her daughter a local law official named Matt Cade (Wolf Larson) helps in the search. In dealing with an infected leg from a fall, and being pursued by a dog infected with rabies, Antonio has his hands full, as does Andy who is bitten by a snake after caring for Antonio. Antonio goes for help for Andy but will it be in time?

This is a terrific movie. It does contain a few bloody scenes of the young man's wounded leg and it might be a bit strong for sensitive viewers, but these scenes are few. The plot and performances make this one interesting to watch and we are pleased to award "Castle Rock" our Dove "Family-Approved" Seal for ages twelve plus. It shows that perseverance and working together can accomplish success in seemingly impossible tasks. Once you hit "play" on your DVD player, you won't want to stop until you get to the end of this one. It's really good!
