Ridley Scott, director of "Alien" and "Blade Runner," returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
Stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Guy Pearce, and Patrick Wilson.
Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) is the kind of woman who believes, with her upbeat spirit, that she and Charlie Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green) can learn the secret of the origins of the planet and of man. The couple is very devoted and Elizabeth looks out for Charlie when an alien infects him. It is always the human elements that I enjoy in these action and sci-fi pictures, although great special effects such as this film has are to be appreciated. However, despite the theme of love and dedication, and of exploring science with curiosity, the violence of this film is strong and, sadly, so is the language.
Although the movie may encourage some thought as to the creation of Earth and although there is a nice theme of unity in the movie as most of the "good guys" of earth stick together to battle the bad guys, the movie has its problems. Yes, there's a lot of action. But this one is not "family friendly" and we recommend that your family check out something more designed for wholesome viewing when you head to the theater. Sorry but no Dove Seal for this film.
